Creating and Defining OD Objects

You can create objects to use in setting up and running your OD task using the following:

  • the File menu (for the Scenario object)
  • the Object menu (for all other objects)
  • corresponding toolbar icons

You can then configure the objects in the Object Properties window.

Creating OD objects

To create a new scenario, select New... from the File menu or click the Scenario button (shown in the table below). After you create a scenario, you can add other objects from the Object menu or by clicking toolbar icons. At any given time, one object icon will be displayed in the toolbar. To change the display to another icon, click the downward pointing arrow to the right of the current icon and make your selection. The objects available from the Object menu, as well as the available object icons, depend on the object highlighted in the Browser, since certain objects serve as parents to others. The following table lists the available objects, along with their associated icons and parents (if any).

Naming OD objects

Do not use exact class names like "Filter" or "Simulator" or "Tracking System" as names for your object, as this can cause confusion when accessing an object by name. Even a small variation like adding "1" ("Filter1") is sufficient. Try to use names specific to your scenario or mission objective.

Configuring OD objects

To view and edit the properties of an OD object, double-click it in the browser. This displays the object's properties in hierarchical fashion in the Object Properties window. To change the value for a given property, click the current value in the Value column and then enter or select the desired new value.
