ITU-R S672 Rectangular Antenna

A rectangular antenna pattern modeled on equations given in ITU-R S672.

This antenna uses a polar coordinate system.

Parameter Description
Design Frequency

The frequency of the antenna.

For an embedded antenna on a receiver, transmitter or radar, this value corresponds to the Frequency entered on the Model Specs tab for the transmitter or receiver and the Transmitter Specs tab for the Radar.

For an antenna linked to a receiver, transmitter, or radar, the Antenna Design Frequency value gets overridden by the Frequency value set on the Model Specs tab for the transmitter or receiver, and the on the Transmitter Specs tab for the Radar. However, when computing the antenna's gain matrix (or a link budget, etc.) from one of the objects linking to the antenna, that other object's frequency settings override the antenna's Design Frequency setting.

Main-lobe Gain The maximum gain of the main lobe of the antenna pattern.
Efficiency The aperture efficiency of the antenna. This value accounts for all the losses between the incident wavefront and the output of the antenna. This field is not required by the ITU-R recommendations. It is, however, provided for consistency with other antenna types and to facilitate accounting for any antenna losses. By default, the efficiency is set to a value of 100% or zero loss.
Major Dimension The largest dimension of the Rectangular Aperture.
Minor Dimension The smallest dimension of the Rectangular Aperture.
Use Main-Lobe Model

The main lobe (φ ranges between the value 0 and φmin) is not defined for this antenna model.

If Use Main-Lobe Model is not selected, this range of φ is modeled as a constant or flat gain at the Main-lobe Gain value. If selected, this range of φ is modeled using the ITU Radio Regulations Appendix 8 main lobe model.

Half Beamwidth One half of the 3dB beamwidth.
Near-in Side Lobe Level The level of the first side lobe relative to the main lobe peak gain.
Far-out Side Lobe Level Far-out side lobe level. This value is 0 dBi for ideal patterns.
