QualNet Interface Settings

To configure your runtime settings for the QualNet Interface, select Preferences...->QualNet Interface from the Edit menu, and update the following parameters:

Working Directory. To use a folder other than the STK scenario folder, select Choose working directory and browse to a different folder. The working directory is populated with files used by QualNet each time you run the QualNet Interface. The stat file is also placed into this folder. The folder structure is:

<user-selected folder or STK scenario folder>/QualNet Interface Experiments /<QualNet experiment name>/<date in format YYYY_MM_DD>/<time in format HH_MM_SS>

An example is My Documents\STK 9\STK92_QualNet_Interface\QualNet Interface Experiments\QualNet\2010_02_16\10_34_52\.

Delete STK scenario from the experiment directory on QualNet run completion. If selected, deletes the VDF file from the experiment folder when the run is completed. If not selected, the VDF file remains in the folder. The VDF file enables you to view the exact settings used by STK when generating the QualNet stat file. This is a handy reference if you plan on later changing the STK scenario. Be aware that each copy of an STK scenario can potentially use a large amount of disk space.

Animation. Enable Show to display QualNet Events. Options are provided for displaying and automatically animating QualNet event lines in the 2D and 3D graphics windows. You can also select one or more of the event types (Packet Received, Unicast, and Packet Dropped) to be displayed, along with the line width and color for each type.

Maximum Animation Time Step. The animation feature of the QualNet Interface animates over the events, which are published by the QualNet simulation. This means that if there are large gaps between animation events, the animation in STK could jump forward or backward in time by large time steps, causing discontinuities in the animation. You can set a maximum animation time step that will help smooth these discontinuities. The animation loop will not make a step greater than this value. For example, if there is a network animation event at 5 seconds and one at 10 seconds, and this field is set to 1 second, the interface will animate at 6, 7, 8, and 9 seconds even though there was no event.

QualNet Simulation Run Preferences. To prevent the Stat File viewer from automatically displaying at the completion of a simulation run, disable Automatically launch stat file viewer on simulation completion.

QualNet Add-ons. Read-only field that displays installed and active QualNet add-ons, which are components that provide enhanced features and functionality to the QualNet application. Depending on the QualNet add-ons available, additional parameters and additional options for some parameters may be available in the QualNet Interface Scenario Explorer.
