STK Parallel Computing Extension

System Requirements

Here are the system requirements for the various roles:

  • Client:
    • STK v11.0 or greater.
    • Same system requirements as STK.
  • Coordinator:
    • Cluster with 10 or more simultaneous machines (agents + clients):
      • Operating System: Windows Server 2008/2012.
    • Cluster with up to 9 machines:
      • Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or higher, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10.
  • Agent:
    • STK Engine v11.0 or greater.
    • Same system requirements as STK Engine.
    • Also recommended is a 64-bit operating system (to help with the memory requirements below).
  • Machine running the workers (i.e., local machine in standalone mode or agent machines in cluster mode):
    • Maximum of one worker per core is recommended.
      • A worker consumes memory equivalent to a STK session without the desktop user interface (i.e. STK Engine). Therefore recommended memory is: STK memory requirement * number of workers.
      • A worker also consumes the same amount of disk space as the scenario used in the computation. Therefore required disk space is: STK scenario size * number of workers.

When STK Desktop or STK Engine 32-bit applications submit jobs to the cluster, the agent machines are required to have STK Engine 32-bit installed, and 32-bit hosts running 32-bit STK Engine will be used to perform the processing.

When STK Desktop or STK Engine 64-bit applications submit jobs to the cluster, the agent machines are required to have STK Engine 64-bit installed, and 64-bit hosts running 64-bit STK Engine will be used to perform the processing.

In order to apply the various installs, you must be an administrator or have elevated permission for the computer on which you are performing the installs.

For reference you can review the system requirements for STK.
