Viewing a Model

MDE contains a number of viewing options for the model as seen in the MDE window. The Reset Model, Reset Light and, Reset All options are applied each time you select one of these options, all other View options toggle between ON and OFF when you select an option.

Menu Option Description
Status Bar Toggles between displaying and hiding the status bar at the very bottom of the MDE window.
Reset Model Resets model to a position and rotation of 0, 0 , 0.
Reset Light Resets level of light to original color, hue, saturation and brightness as well as resetting the light source to a 0, 0, 1 position.
Reset All Resets both the original model and light levels.
Show Axes Opens a window allowing you to specify the vector dimensions of the axes. Options are:
  • Show Axes - If ON, vectors for the x, y, and z axes display in the MDE window
  • Total Length - The length of the vector to be displayed
  • Shaft Width - The width of the vector shaft
  • Head Length - The length of the arrowhead
  • Head Width - The width of the arrowhead
Show Light Vector If ON, a vector is drawn in the MDE window that points to the light source.
Show Inset If ON, a small box appears in the upper right corner of the MDE window containing an identical view of the full model in a very small scale. This option is very useful when setting levels of detail and viewing the model from a distance.
LOD 0 / LOD 1 Toggles between the less complex level of detail for the model and the most detailed model (LOD0).
Configuration Opens a window allowing you to choose the default directory in which MDE searches for Models and Textures. When you finish, click OK.
