External Antenna Pattern
The external antenna type is for antenna files arranged in a format used by STK.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Design Frequency |
This is the frequency of the antenna. The antenna design frequency is independent of the operational frequency of a transmitter, receiver, or radar. Changing the frequency of a transmitter, receiver, or radar does not update an embedded antenna's design frequency, nor vice versa. The design frequency is solely used at antenna configuration time to compute the antenna size from its max gain or beamwidth settings. A mismatch between signal frequency and antenna design frequency typically causes performance degradation. |
External Filename |
This is the path and name of the file that contains the antenna gain data. You CANNOT use the file extension *.antenna with an external antenna pattern file; your antenna data will fail to apply to an antenna object. AGI recommends using *.ant or *.pattern and applying the same extension for all external antenna files so that they are easy to locate. If you are using an External antenna file with a symmetric pattern, you have the option of providing the order of interpolation for the Lagrange interpolation algorithm. The value range is 1 to 7, with 1 as the default if you do not provide a value or if your value is out of range. STK uses interpolation to calculate points between the values you provide in the input file for a symmetric pattern. STK uses 2D bivariable interpolation for 2D gain data on a regularly spaced grid, and the order of interpolation is linear. |
Reload | Reloads the antenna data from the external file. |
You can specify either a rectangular coordinate system or a polar coordinate system for an external antenna.
