Measuring Coverage Time

Coverage Time measures the amount of time during which grid points are covered. Because Coverage Time does not have a dynamic definition, no time-dependent information is computed. Options for the static definition of Coverage Time are described in the following table.

Compute options for Coverage Time

Option Description
Max Per Day The maximum time per calendar day during which the area is covered
Max Percent Per Day The maximum percentage of time per calendar day during which a point is covered
Min Per Day The minimum time per calendar day during which a point is covered
Min Percent Per Day The minimum percentage of time per calendar day during which a point is covered
Per Day The total coverage time divided by the number of days in the coverage interval
Per Day Std Dev The standard deviation of the amount of time covered per calendar day
Percent

The percentage of time during which a point is covered, computed as:

100*(CoverageInterval)/ (TotalTime)

Percent Per Day The percentage of time per day during which a point is covered; percentage is based on the total percentage of time covered divided by the number of days in the coverage interval
Percent Per Day Std Dev The standard deviation of the percentage of time covered per calendar day
Percent Time Above The percentage of time during which a point is covered by at least the specified number of assets based on the entire coverage interval
Total The amount of time (over the entire coverage interval) during which a point is covered
Total Time Above The amount of time (over the entire coverage interval) during which a point is covered by at least the specified number of assets based on the entire coverage interval.

Calendar days are measured from midnight to midnight UTC.

Displaying coverage time in a graphics window

Graphics are used to represent only the static value of Coverage Time. If Satisfaction is enabled, graphics follow the general behavior for satisfaction graphics. If Satisfaction is disabled, graphics appear as described in the table below. The display of static graphics also depends on the Compute option set and the values entered in that field.

Static or Animation? Grid Points highlighted if they...
Static are covered by at least one asset at some point during the coverage interval

An example satisfaction setting is to show points with coverage greater than 20 percent of the time. Depending on the Figure Of Merit Type, the Satisfaction Threshold value is either Absolute Time or Percentage of time covered. The default behavior of this Figure Of Merit corresponds to a Satisfaction setting of greater than 0.
