Measuring Access Duration

Access Duration measures the intervals during which coverage is available from a single asset. The dynamic definition of Access Duration is the duration of the longest interval containing the current time. This duration is 0 if there currently is not coverage.

Computing the longest access duration

Overlapping accesses from multiple assets are not concatenated to form longer access intervals.

Compute options for Access Duration

Option Description
Average The average duration of all access intervals over the entire coverage interval
Maximum The maximum duration of all access intervals over the entire coverage interval
Minimum The minimum duration of all access intervals over the entire coverage interval
Percent Above The value computed indicates that the point is within an access interval with a duration of at least D, X percent of the time, where D is the computed value and X is the Percent Level that you specify
Std Deviation The standard deviation of the duration of all access intervals calculated over the entire coverage interval
Sum The sum of the duration of all access intervals over the entire coverage interval

Displaying Access Duration in a Graphics Window

Graphics are used to represent the static and dynamic value of Access Duration. Graphics representing the dynamic values are only displayed during animation. If Satisfaction is enabled, the graphics follow the general behavior for satisfaction graphics. If Satisfaction is disabled, the graphics appear as described in the following table:

Static or Animation? Grid points highlighted if they...
Static are covered at least once during the coverage interval, regardless of the duration of the access interval
Animation are currently within an access interval, regardless of the duration of the interval

The Satisfaction Threshold value is the duration of an access interval. The default behavior for Access Duration corresponds to a satisfaction setting of Greater Than 0.
