Sensor Scene Generator

The Sensor Scene Generator models the following objects and properties.

Material optical properties

EOIR models 27 materials:

  • Spectral Reflectance has a value of 0 – 1, from 0.28 mm to 28.0 mm. Spectral intervals vary from 0.001 mm @ 0.28 mm to 0.2 mm @ 28.0 mm.
  • Emittance is modeled as (1 – Spectral Reflectance).
  • Bi-Directional Reflectance Function is a four-parameter model that is independent of wavelength.

Shape models

The following shape models are available in the sensor scene:

  • Central bodies are represented as spheres with reported mean radii.
  • Stars are pure point sources.
  • For satellites, aircraft, ground vehicles, ships, and missiles, you can select shapes and specify corresponding dimensions to represent them.

Thermal models

STK uses thermal models plus material emissivity to calculate self-radiance of the following objects via the Planck function:

  • Planets have seasonal, diurnal, latitudinal models that are tied to reported temperatures.
  • Stars have effective temperatures derived from catalog data.
  • Solar radiance derives from a tabulated spectrum.
  • Missile plumes can either be Planck or tabulated spectra.
  • For satellites, aircraft, ground vehicles, ships, and missiles, you can specify a fixed temperature and Composite shapes as built into the shape definition.
