Scalable Network Modeling Interface Settings
To configure your runtime settings for the Scalable Network Modeling Interface, select Preferences...->Scalable Network Modeling Interface from the Edit menu.
Working Directory
In the Working Directory subpanel, you can make the following selections:
Option | Description |
---|---|
Use scenario directory as working directory | STK sets this to selected by default. |
Choose working directory | To use a folder other than the STK scenario folder, select this and click the ellipsis to browse to and select a different folder. STK populates this working directory with files used by Scalable Network Modeling Interface each time you run the Scalable Network Modeling Interface. STK also places the stat file into this folder. The folder structure is: <user-selected folder or STK scenario folder\Scalable Network Modeling Interface Experiments\<Scalable Network Modeling Interface experiment name>\<date in format YYYY_MM_DD>\<time in format HH_MM_SS>An example is Documents\STK 12\STK92_Scalable Network Modeling Interface_Interface\Scalable Network Modeling Interface Experiments\Scalable Network Modeling Interface\2020_08_16\10_34_52\. |
Delete STK scenario from the experiment directory on Simulator run completion | Select this check box to delete the VDF file from the experiment folder when the run completes. If not selected, the VDF file remains in the folder. The VDF file enables you to view the exact settings used by STK when generating the Scalable Network Modeling Interface stat file. This is a handy reference if you plan to later change the STK scenario. Be aware that each copy of an STK scenario can potentially use a large amount of disk space. |
Wired and wireless interfaces
There are two check boxes you can select regarding wired and wireless interfaces:
- Add a default wired interface when an object is added to the scenario.
- Add a default wireless interface when an Antenna object is added to the scenario.
Animation
In the Animation subpanel, you can specify the following parameters:
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Show | Select this check box to make possible the display of Scalable Network Modeling Interface events. You can then choose 2D, 3D, or both. |
2D | Select this check box to display Scalable Network Modeling Interface event lines in the 2D Graphics window. |
3D | Select this check box to to display Scalable Network Modeling Interface event lines in the 3D Graphics window. |
Automatically animate on simulation run | Select this check box to automatically animate Scalable Network Modeling Interface event lines when you run the simulator. |
(event-specific parameters) |
You can set certain animation features for events:
|
Maximum Animation Time Step (sec) |
The animation feature of the Scalable Network Modeling Interface animates over the events, which are published by the Scalable Network Modeling Interface simulation. This means that if there are large gaps between animation events, the animation in STK could jump forward or backward in time by large time steps, causing discontinuities in the animation. You can set a maximum animation time step that will help smooth these discontinuities. The animation loop will not make a step greater than this value. For example, if there is a network animation event at 5 seconds and one at 10 seconds, and this field is set to 1 second, the interface will animate at 6, 7, 8, and 9 seconds even though there was no event. |
Simulation
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Simulator | Use the shortcut menu to select either QualNet (simulator) or EXata (emulator). |
Automatically launch stat file viewer on simulation completion | Clear this check box to prevent the Stat File viewer from automatically displaying at the completion of a simulation run. |
Simulator Add-Ons | This is a read-only field that displays installed and active Scalable Network Modeling Interface add-ons, which are components that provide enhanced features and functionality to the Scalable Network Modeling Interface application. Depending on the Scalable Network Modeling Interface add-ons available, additional parameters and additional options for some parameters may be available in the Scalable Network Modeling Interface Scenario Explorer. |
