Globe Manager Get Info Tool
You can use the Get Info Tool to return attribute information associated with STK Objects and Globe Manager layers and to import GIS layers into a scenario for analysis.
Accessing the Get Info Tool
You can launch the Get Info Tool on the KML toolbar in Globe Manager.
Obtaining layer metadata
After you have opened the tool, follow these steps:
- From the Layer shortcut menu, select the type of data (STK Object, RT3, or KML) for your layer of interest.
- Click Select Tool (
).
- In the 3D Graphics window, click the object or feature of interest, or hold down the left mouse button and drag a box around the area of interest.
- A list of the selected objects will appear in the left panel.
- Select an item from the list of objects; information about that object will appear in the right panel.
You must click Select Tool each time you want to select an object or group of objects. Each time you draw a new box, the Get Info Tool panel will refresh.
Promoting KML layers to STK analysis objects
Once the Get Info Tool list populates, you can select KML features to import into the STK Object Browser for analysis. In the Get Info Tool left panel, you can select an item or list of items to import into STK by right-clicking the root-level KML item you wish to promote. When you select an item, it is highlighted light blue. While it is possible to Select All from this menu, it is usually best to start small and create a subset selection.
Use the right-click menu of an individual layer or sub-layer to make a selection, or individually import a layer into an STK object. Select Flash to display an item's location in the 3D Window; the item will turn green for a short time.
Each selection will add to the previous until you select Clear Selection from the root menu.
When the Get Info list repopulates, it does not clear a selection. You can continue to select objects throughout the scenario.
When you are finished building a custom selection, return to the root menu and select Import Selection. This action will:
- Transform all the points to facilities
- Transform polylines to line targets
- Transform polygons to area targets
Clicking Import Selection With Constellations will:
- Create the same object as the previous option
- Create Constellation objects for each feature
If a feature has two or more parts, STK will create a constellation to group these parts together. If there are two or more features by the same name, STK will group them into separate constellations.
You can promote individual layers to STK objects. Right-click a layer and select from the following types of objects:
- Point — Facility, Place, or Target
- Polyline — Aircraft, Ground Vehicle, Line Target, or Ship
- Polygon — Area Target
STK propagates promoted polylines starting at the start time and they travel at a default velocity. If the polyline has two or more paths, STK will prompt you to either proceed or cancel. Proceeding will generate the same number of objects as paths.
