Area Target Wizard

The Area Target Wizard is used to add an area target, define its perimeter, and set its graphic properties. The Area Target Wizard is available on the Insert STK Objects tool.

The area will only be computed for an Area Target that is a simple polygon.

To add an area target, enter the name of the area target in the Name field and select the area type:

Ellipse: Define an elliptical area boundary using the following parameters:

Semi-Major Axis. Half the length of the ellipse's long axis.

Semi-Minor Axis. Half the length of the ellipse's short axis.

Bearing. The angle, measured in an easterly direction, between the major axis of the ellipse and the local North direction.

Centroid. Click the map to set the centroid (center point) of an area target. The centroid is also used as a terminal point for access lines drawn to the area target during animation. To reset the position of the centroid, click the map again or enter the desired coordinates.

Pattern: Specify the position of perimeter points using one of the Map Pick Modes:

  • Insert Point. Define perimeter points by clicking the Area Target Wizard's map. Each time you click the map, latitude and longitude values for that point will be added to the points table and that point will be displayed on the map. You must insert at least three points to define an area target. You can also use the Insert Point button to add new points, which can be edited in the Points table.
  • Select Point. Highlight the point that you want to modify.
  • Move Selection. Move the selected point by clicking a new location for it on the map.

If displaying the graphics for other objects in the scenario would help you create your area target, you can display their graphics in this 2D window with the Show All STK Objects option.

To change the color of the area target, select a new color.
