Exclude Time Intervals

Ordinarily, the imposition of a constraint limits access to those time intervals when the constraint is satisfied. For example, assume a ground facility has line of sight access to a satellite as shown here:

If you impose minimum and maximum range constraints of 1000 km and 2000 km, respectively, intervals of line of sight access during which the range from the facility to the satellite is less than 1000 km or greater than 2000 km are excluded from the time period:

The Exclude Time Intervals option gives you the alternative of excluding the time intervals during which the constraint is satisfied:

The Exclude Time Intervals option can be selected separately for each constraint for which it is available, and the resulting schedule of accesses will be affected accordingly. For example, suppose you set the following constraint:
  • Elevation Angle Min = 10 deg
  • Elevation Angle Max = 80 deg
  • Range Min = 1000 km
  • Range Max = 2000 km

Suppose, furthermore, that you choose the Exclude Time Intervals option for the Range constraint but not for the Elevation Angle constraint. The result will be that access will obtain only when (1) the elevation angle is between 10 and 80 degrees, and (2) the range between the objects is less than 1000 km or greater than 2000 km.
