Vehicle Lighting

2D Lighting Graphics enable you to define the graphical display of lighting conditions for a vehicle during animation.

Lighting Conditions

Select and then define the lighting conditions that you would like to display in the 2D Graphics window.

Lighting Condition Description
Sunlight If ON, the ground track and/or orbit is drawn using the specified sunlight color where the vehicle is in complete sunlight.
Penumbra If ON, the ground track and/or orbit is drawn with the specified penumbra color where the Sun is partially blocked by the Earth and, therefore, the vehicle is only in partial sunlight.
Umbra If ON, the ground track and/or orbit is drawn with the specified umbra color where the Sun is completely blocked by the Earth and, therefore, the vehicle isn't in sunlight at all.
Show Sunlight/ Penumbra Boundary at Vehicle Altitude If ON, the dividing line between regions of sunlight and penumbra are drawn at the current altitude of the vehicle.
Show Penumbra/ Umbra Boundary at Vehicle Altitude If ON, the dividing line between regions of penumbra and umbra are drawn at the current altitude of the vehicle.
Show Solar Specular Reflection Point If ON, the solar specular reflection point on the surface of the globe will be drawn as a white *. The solar specular reflection point is the point where the direction to the vehicle is a perfect reflection of the direction from the apparent sun. The point only exists during periods when the vehicle is lit by the sun.

Display Options

Display options available enable you to customize the display of regions of sunlight, penumbra, and umbra.

Option Description
Color Select the color of the line that will mark the region representing the selected lighting condition.
Line Style Select the type of line that will mark the region representing the selected lighting condition in the 2D Graphics and 3D Graphics windows.
Line Width Select the width of the line that will mark the region representing the selected lighting condition.
Marker Style Select the display of the object marker while the vehicle is within a particular region representing the selected lighting conditions.
