Track Mode

The track mode specifies how you want to orient the antenna when you select Tracking as the Boresight Type:

Track Mode Options

Option Description
Receive The antenna is oriented slightly “behind” the current location of the other object. In such cases, STK computes the appropriate amount by which to lead or trail based on the light time delay. Access computations including the computation of targeting times are performed based on the sensor being the receiver of the signal.
Transmit The antenna is oriented slightly “ahead” of the current location of the other object. This pointing technique accounts for the fact that the emitted energy requires a finite amount of time to reach the target object, and that the target object will have moved during that finite time interval. Access computations including the computation of targeting times are performed based on the sensor being the transmitter of the signal.
Transpond The antenna points to the true location of the target object. This mode is the most appropriate for 2-way communications and is typically sufficient for all non-laser communications. Older scenarios are interpreted as using the Transpond tracking mode. Access computations including the computation of targeting times are performed based on the sensor being the transmitter of the signal.
