Path Resolution Values

Use to specify the ephemeris steps for vehicle routes, ground tracks, trajectories and orbits. To access the Path Resolution Values window, click the Resolution... button on the Pass, Route and Trajectory page of an object's 2D Graphics properties.

The groundtrack and orbit/trajectory for a vehicle are drawn by connecting computed ephemeris points over the vehicle's specified display interval. The time between computed points can vary depending on the propagator. Finer control of the vehicle's rendered groundtrack and orbit/trajectory can be obtained by modifying the minimum and maximum resolution settings. The time spacing between points used to draw the groundtrack and orbit/trajectory lines will be no shorter than the minimum time setting and no longer than the maximum time setting, regardless of the vehicle's propagated data. If the minimum time value is set to 0.0 seconds, the minimum time spacing between points will be ignored and only the maximum time spacing will be used.

This option is especially useful for an interplanetary or other deep-space trajectory, where an ephemeris step of 1 day or greater may be desirable between orbit points to reduce the amount of time it takes STK to draw the trajectory in the 2D Graphics window. Conversely, a smaller ephemeris step size is generally preferable for ground tracks.
