STK Model Viewer
The STK Model Viewer is an application available to you when you install STK. You can access it on your Windows UI by going to Start > STK {whole release number} > STK Model Viewer.
Use the following tabs on the STK Model Viewer application UI to do the following:
- Model: Import and view simple or complex models
- Background: Choose a background environment for model viewing
- Articulations: Move parts of the model
You can view your model (and the background environment) from different angles by clicking and holding inside the image area and then moving the cursor around. In the upper-right corner of the image is a right-pointing arrow that you can click to hide the tabs. You can then click the left-pointing arrow to reveal the tabs.
Model tab
The Model tab has a picture of a cube. Use this tab to do the following:
- Under the word Model, click to select the model that you want to see.
- Click to have the background return to its default view.
Background tab
The Background tab has a picture of a light bulb. Use this tab to do the following:
Option | Description |
---|---|
Environment Presets | Choose one of the preset background styles in the list. |
Lighting Angle | Move the slider bar to change the lighting effect (Sun position). The view options cover a typical central body "day". |
Show Body Axes | When you select this check box, the axes of your model appear. |
Show Light Vector | Select this check box to show the vector to the Sun. |
Vector Length | Move the slide bar to adjust the length of the selected vectors: Body Axes and Light Vector. |
Articulations tab
The Articulations tab has a picture of a moving ball. Use this tab to do the following:
- Select the model part that you want to move.
- Adjust the relevant sliders to create motion in a particular manner. You can return a moved slider back to its original position by clicking the "return" curved arrow to the right of that slider.
