Primitive Details

Use the Primitive Details page to define the graphics for the following types of primitives:

  • Primitives defined using points (line, arc, PreCB Arc, polygon, and Arc Polygon).
  • Primitives drawn before the CentralBody, so any line that goes beneath the CentralBody surface is clipped (PreCBLine and PreCBArc).
  • Primitives defined by a single position (Model primitive).

All primitives (including those that can be created and modified only by using the Connect VO Primitive command) are listed in the Primitive tool's main window.

To display the primitive in the scenario, select Show and set the options appropriate for the selected primitive:

Primitive

ID. Unique number that identifies the primitive.

Attach to. Associate a primitive with a central body or attach it to an object. When a primitive is attached to an object, it will take on the central body of that object and it will move along with the object in its body frame.

If an object has primitives attached to it, the primitives are deleted when the object is deleted

Attributes

These attributes define the primitive graphics. The attributes that you can define depend on the primitive style.

Show Line. Show or hide the lines for this primitive.

Show Points. Show or hide the vertices for this primitive.

Color. Specifies the color in which the primitive displays in the 3D Graphics window.

Line Width/Line Style Specifies the width and style of the line.

Arc Granularity. Specifies the arc granularity, which is the frequency of interpolated points. A low number will make the arc look better, but draw slower.

Translucency. Specifies the translucency of the polygon. This is a percent value. A valid value is between 0.00 and 100.0, with 100 being completely transparent. Default value is 70.0.

Model File. Name of the model file.

Log Scale. Defines the model scale absolutely. Must be greater than 0.0.

On Distance. Specifies the distance, in meters, from the camera when the model will display.

Off Distance. Specifies the distance, in meters, from the camera when the model will not display. Default value is 2,000,000.0. The On Distance and Off Distance options can be used to prevent models that are far away from the viewer from being drawn.

Pitch. Rotates around the Y axis.

Roll. Rotates around the X axis.

Yaw. Rotates around the Z axis.

Rotations are applied in the following order: pitch, roll, yaw.

Points

To define the points for a primitive:

  1. Select the point type:
    • For a primitive that is not attached to an object: LatLonAlt (Latitude, Longitude, Altitude), LatLon (Latitude, Longitude), or CBF (Central Body Fixed).
    • For a primitive attached to an object: XYZ (body fixed elements) or XYSurface (body fixed elements, points are scaled to surface).
  2. Use the Add, Remove, and Remove All buttons to create and manage the points in the table.
  3. To modify a value in a table field, click that field and enter a new value.

Intervals

The start and stop times specified in the table are used as the time intervals during which the primitive will display.

To use a list of intervals for displaying the primitive:

  1. Select Use Intervals.
  2. Add interval data, load an interval file, or import interval component data:
    • To add interval times, use the Add and Remove buttons to create and manage the intervals in the table.
    • To load interval data from an external file, click Load... and choose an interval list file (*.int). Interval times in the file are then used as the display times for the primitive.
    • To import STK Analysis Workbench interval component data, click Import... and create or select an interval component. Interval times from the component are then used as the display times for the primitive.
    • Click Remove All to delete all the intervals in the table.
  3. To modify a value in a table field, click that field and enter a new value.
