Keyframes

Use the View Path Editor () to maintain view paths created using an earlier version of STK. Starting with STK 6.0, the Camera Control tool replaces the View Path Editor for creating view paths (now called camera paths).

A view path is made up of a sequence of keyframes on the View Path Editor screen. A keyframe is a record of the viewer position, viewer direction and the direction of the up vector at a given time. To manage keyframes, you can:

Add a Keyframe

When you create a keyframe the current view, including viewer position, direction and current animation time, is stored in the currently selected view path. The new keyframe is added to the Keyframe table directly after whichever keyframe is selected in the table. The new keyframe then becomes the current keyframe. STK then incrementally increases the current scenario animation time according to the animation time step set, so that another keyframe can be added without having to increment the current time.

All keyframe animation times within a given view path must be in increasing order for the view path to be valid.

Use the following steps as a guideline for adding keyframes that will be used to create view paths:

  1. Select the view path to which you want to add keyframes from the Path table.
  2. Using the mouse, set the view in the 3D window exactly as you want it to be saved.
  3. Using the Animation controls, set the animation time exactly as you want it to be saved.
  4. Click Add in the Keyframes area.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 for each new keyframe.

You can use the button to quickly add keyframes without opening the View Path Editor.

Delete a Keyframe

Use the following steps as a guideline for removing keyframes from a view path:

  1. Select the keyframe you wish to remove from the Keyframe table.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Click Apply to update the 3D window display.

Modify a Keyframe

You can edit an existing view path by modifying the individual keyframes used to create it. Use the following steps as a guideline for editing view paths by modifying keyframes:

  1. Double-click the camera path that you want to edit in the Path table.
  2. Select the keyframe that you want to modify from the table in the Keyframes area.
  3. When you select a keyframe from the table in the Keyframes area, the point representing that keyframe will be three times larger than the points representing other keyframes along the view path.

  4. Using the mouse, set the view in the 3D window exactly as you want it to be saved.
  5. Using the animation controls, set the animation time exactly as you want it to be saved.
  6. Click Modify. The 3D window is updated automatically.
