The XF1 aircraft takes off from Edwards Air Force Base and flies to the Sea Range off the coast of Southern California. In the first phase of the mission, the aircraft performs some racetrack patterns for RF testing with a ship target. The second phase executes radar air-to-air capabilities against two target aircraft.

Capabilities Covered

  • Test and Evaluation Tool Kit (TETK)

  • STK Core

Import TSPI Data

  1. Click the Data Importer () icon in the T&E Tool Kit toolbar.
  2. Click Associated State .
  3. Browse to C:\Program Files\AGI\STK 12\Help\TeTraining\Training files and multi-select (press and hold CTRL) the Target1.csv and Target2.csv files.
  4. Change the name of the associated object to Target1.
  5. Click the ... button next to the 3D Model File field and select C:\Program Files\AGI\STK 12\STKData\VO\Models\Air\f-16falcon.mdl
  6. Leave the remaining fields as their defaults.
  7. Note that the TSPI Mapping is set to Sample TSPI already. We previously imported this mapping. TETK recognizes that a data mapping already exists that matches Target1 and Target2 data sources.

  8. Click OK.
  9. Repeat steps 4-7 for the second associated object, naming this one Target2.
  10. Click OK to dismiss the Data Import Successful dialog.
  11. Similarly to the Ownship.csv file, the target files contain various data relevant to the target objects. You can select each row to see what column headings exist in these files.

  12. Close the Data Source Importer panel.
  13. Click the Data Mapping Viewer () icon in the T&E Tool Kit toolbar.
  14. Expand the TSPI category (). You will notice that Sample_Ownship and SampleTSPI are bolded. This is because both TSPI mappings match at least one data file that has been loaded through the Data Source Importer.
  15. Close the Data Mapping Viewer window.
  16. You will now see Target1 and Target2 in the Object Browser and the 3D Graphics window. To tell them apart, change the colors of each object by double-clicking on the color swatch to the left of the object.
  17. Object Color
    Target1 Red
    Target2 Yellow
  18. Zoom To either target and animate the scenario. You can also use the scrub bar in the Timeline View to quickly animate the scenario. The targets take off from Pt. Mugu 30 minutes after XF1_0123. You may have to fast forward the animation time until the targets are visible. Check that the aircraft attitude is set properly. You should see the aircraft bank during turns.

Add a Ship Object
