Optimization Tool Options
In the bottom right corner of the Optimization Tool, options can be accessed by clicking the Options button.
Optimization Tool Options
When embedded, check out license only when run
When this option is checked, the license for the Optimization Tool and the selected algorithm will be checked out only when the algorithm is run. Otherwise, the license will be checked out as soon as a model containing the Optimization Tool is opened, or as soon as the Optimization Tool is opened from the Server Browser. This option is checked by default.
Throw an error when an algorithm does not finish successfully
This option controls the error reporting behavior when the Optimization Tool is running as an embedded Component in Analyzer. When this option is off, the Optimizer Component will not throw an error and the Model will continue to run. This is useful if it is desired to use the best results so far instead of simply stopping the model execution. This option is on by default.
Cheat failed runs when algorithm doesn't support them
If checked, this option will ignore failures and continue as if a failed run succeeded. A warning will be shown but the optimization will not be halted. The value from the last successful run will be used if possible. This option may produce incorrect results.
Start Value Behavior
This option refers to the Design Variable. There are three options to determine the starting value.
- Use explicit value: Allows the user to specify an explicit Start Value through the GUI.
- Use Analyzer value: Automatically detects and uses the value currently held in Analyzer.
- Use best design value from last run: Only applicable when a run has been performed, this option automatically sets the Start Value to the best case from the last run.
Algorithm Options
Algorithm Options will open a dialog specific to the currently selected algorithm, allowing modification of its settings.
Additional Responses
Additional Responses allows variables to be added to the Data Explorer for observation alongside the variables specified in the Objective Definition and Design Variable sections.
