Batteries
The Battery tab enables you to define batteries by various attributes. The left side of the page has tabs for each of the batteries on the spacecraft. You can add, copy, delete, or move batteries using the buttons at the top of the tab. The right side of the page displays a Voltage Table that defines the charge limit and charge/discharge voltage. This table keys off of the current state-of-charge of the batteries and applies to all batteries.
Batteries parameter glossary
Parameter/Control | Description | Units |
---|---|---|
Capacity | Battery capacity | A*hr |
Recharge Efficiency | Fraction of charge power converted to potential energy instead of heat | 0 to 1 |
Recharge Efficiency | Fraction of discharge power converted to electrical energy instead of heat | 0 to 1 |
Initial S.O.C. | Initial percent of battery capacity available | % |
S.O.C | The state-of-charge key value for the system voltage table (During runs, the SOC is used to interpolate and compute the values of the other parameters in the table.) | % |
Charge Current Limit | Charge rate specification defining the maximum current a battery can charge at relative to its capacity Example: A 2C rate on a 5 A*h battery can charge up to 10A. It must be >= 0. |
C-Rate |
Charge Voltage | Charge voltage as a function of SOC; must be >= 0 | V |
Discharge Voltage | Discharge voltage as a function of SOC; must be >= 0 | V |
