Thermal
The Thermal tab is available when you select the Thermal Modeling check box on the Power/Thermal panel. Use this tab to specify the thermal properties and the thermal relationships of the bus node and other spacecraft nodes (i.e., Panels).
Bus
The bus node is considered an internal node, capable of producing internal heat. You can define internal power/heat generation unique to the bus node.
Parameter | Description | Units |
---|---|---|
Internal Power | Represents the bus internal heat generation. | W |
Add Spacecraft Modeled Power | If you select this, SOLIS adds load and battery waste heat to the bus internal heat. | N/A |
Nodes
In the Nodes tab, you can define the thermal properties of each of the nodes.
Parameter | Description | Units |
---|---|---|
Initial Temp | Initial temperature of node | deg C |
Thermal Mass | Thermal mass; must be > 0 | W*s/deg C |
Absorptivity | Fraction of incident solar and albedo flux absorbed | 0 to 1 |
Emissivity | Thermal emissivity | 0 to 1 |
Shunt Ratio | Fraction of excess bus power shunted to this node and converted to heat; fixed at 1 for the bus | 0 to 1 |
Conductivity Matrix
The Conductivity Matrix (W/°C) is an (N+1)x(N+1)
matrix to relate the thermal conduction path from one node to another. The size is defined as the number of Panel surfaces (N), plus one node for the bus. The bus node is always the first row/column.
