Sensors

SOLIS has defined the following sensors:

You can use different combinations of these sensors to simulate the Attitude Determination capabilities of the spacecraft. When you select Perfect AD, sensors are not necessary.

Sensor Main

Minimum configuration

An IMU (or three angular rate sensors) is the minimum required set of sensors for a valid attitude determination system. However, with an IMU or rate sensor alone, the attitude estimate will drift from truth if any noise or biases are present. You should use at least one star tracker or two of the other sensor types (sun vector sensor, magnetometer, horizon sensor) in order to correct for attitude drift due to IMU and rate sensor errors.

Sensor Configuration Wizard

The sensors wizard enables you to develop a typical sensor package based on rudimentary questions about the spacecraft mission and performance level. The results of their selections will configure the Sensor Suite section on the Sensor Wizard. You may then customize the sensor suite, if desired.
