Volumetric Basic Definition

The Volumetric object is used to combine spatial calculations and volume grids that enable you to:

  • Report and graph calculations over time and across grid points.
  • Visually depict volumes representing various values interpolated across grid points.

The spatial calculations and volume grids are defined using the Spatial Analysis tool in Analysis Workbench. This tool allows you to create calculations and conditions that depend on locations in 3D space which are, in turn, provided by user-definable volume grids.

There are two ways to define the Volumetric object:

  • Specify Grid and Spatial Calculation.

Select this option to evaluate a spatial condition on a volume grid.

Click the Volume Grid to select a Volume Grid component from Analysis Workbench.

To apply a Spatial Calculation, select it and click to select a Spatial Calculation component from Analysis Workbench. A Spatial Calculation is a scalar calculation that depends on both time and location.

  • Load Grid and Computed Data.

Select this option to load an external file containing a volume grid reference and satisfaction intervals for each grid point, and browse to the appropriate .h5 file. The Volume Grid field is a read-only field that displays the grid for the volumetric component.

The file is not automatically reloaded after you make changes to it. To reload the file, click Reload.

You can set the Start or Stop time of the Computed Analysis Interval to either the Animation Time or Animation Start time by selecting .
