Report Style: Eclipse Times

Generates a listing of all eclipse events. Eclipsing events are start and end of periods of partial lighting (penumbra) and periods of zero lighting (umbra).

Data Provider:Eclipse Times

Type: Interval data.

Column Listing

ColumnColumn NameElementTypeDimensionDescription
1Start TimeStart TimeReal Number or TextDateBeginning of an interval.
2Stop TimeStop TimeReal Number or TextDateEnd of an interval.
3DurationDurationReal NumberTimeThe duration of the interval.
4ObstructionObstructionTextUnitlessName of the obstructing central body.
5Start Pass NumberStart Pass NumberTextUnitlessFor Satellites, pass number at the start time; other objects will report N/A.
6Stop Pass NumberStop Pass NumberTextUnitlessFor Satellites, pass number at the stop time; other objects will report N/A.
7Current ConditionCurrent ConditionTextUnitlessType of eclipsing event (Penumbra or Umbra) bounded by the start and stop times.
8Worst ConditionWorst ConditionTextUnitlessMaximum eclipse condition within the contiguous time period of partial illumination which contains the current interval. The contiguous time period of partial illumination may contain abutting and/or overlapping eclipse intervals from one or more eclipsing bodies.

The worst condition may result from an eclipsing body different from the one associated with the current interval. For example, a period of penumbra due to the moon which has no associated period of umbra may overlap with a period of umbra due to the Earth and therefore report a worst condition of umbra.

Useful for determining if a reported penumbra period leads to or follows an umbra period for the typical case of only Earth eclipsing.

9Total DurationTotal DurationReal NumberTimeTotal duration of the contiguous time period of partial illumination which contains the current interval. The contiguous time period of partial illumination may contain abutting and/or overlapping eclipse intervals from one or more eclipsing bodies. For the typical case of eclipsing by only the Earth, this represents the duration of the abutted penumbra-umbra-penumbra intervals.
