The lighting condition at the intersection point of the sensor boresight direction with the ground surface.

Name Description
Sunlight Periods when object is in full sun.
Penumbra Periods when the object is in partial shadow. Also means that part of the solar disk is occultated.
Umbra Periods when the object is in total shadow. Also means that the Sun is seen as entirely obscured.
