Insert a Facility Using the Standard Object Database

Use the Standard Object Database tool to search for known facilities or ground station networks in either the Online Facility database, the Local Facility database, or both when searching a Standard Object Database.

The Standard Object Database tool is available from the Insert menu.

Information for the inserted facility appears on the Description page of its Basic properties.

The Facility Database also provides obscura az-el masks for selected ground sites, including NASA STDN, USAF AFSCN, and PrioraNet. The masks are automatically loaded when the facilities are loaded.

Searching the Facility Database

Under Data Sources, you can choose to query either the Online database, the Local database, or both.

Enter as many search criteria as possible. If you do not know the exact criteria, you can enter a partial name or use the wildcard character *.

Search Criteria Description
Site Name To search for a facility by name, select Site Name and enter the full pr partial name of the facility.
Network The type of network of which the object is part, such as USAF.
Latitude: Min/Max Limits the search to the specified Min value, Max value, or range of values (both Min and Max are specified).
Longitude: Min/Max Limits the search to the specified Min value, Max value, or range of values (both Min and Max are specified).
Altitude: Min/Max Limits the search to the specified Min value, Max value, or range of values (both Min and Max are specified).
Search Tip

Select the Latitude and Longitude boxes, go the 2D Graphics window and draw a boundary box by dragging the mouse over the desired area. The maximum and minimum latitude and longitude coordinates automatically display.

Search Results

All facilities that meet the search criteria are listed, along with their network, latitude, longitude, and altitude values, and the source (Local Database or AGI's Standard Object Data Service). Note that the altitude value references WGS84. The MSL altitude can be reported after importing the facility.

The results are sorted by site name. To sort the results by a different column, double-click the column heading The direction that the aircraft is pointing..

If there are a number of items resulting from the search, you can select one or more items in the list to be inserted into your scenario. Use the Shift or Ctrl key to select more than one item. Use Ctrl+A to select all items.

To specify a label color for the selected facilities, select the color choice or select Auto Select Color to allow STK to choose colors automatically for the selected facilities.

To change the model for the selected facilities, click the Model browse button and browse to the desired model file.
