Importing a QualNet Configuration File

The QualNet Configuration File Importer enables you to:

  • Map wireless interfaces in the QualNet simulation to antenna objects in the STK scenario. This mapping enables STK's physics-based software geometry engine to accurately model the time-dynamic position and orientation of vehicles, the characteristics and pointing of sensors and communications assets, and the spatial relationships (e.g., line of sight) between objects.
    • Starting with STK 10, the QualNet Interface recognizes the QualNet Satellite-RSV model and enables you to map the multiple uplink and downlink channels of the Satellite-RSV model to STK antenna objects. The Satellite-RSV model is used for modeling analog transponders, such as TDRS.
    • Starting with STK 9.2.2, the QualNet Interface recognizes the QualNet advanced satellite model and enables you to map STK antennas to both uplink and downlink antennas for the bent-pipe model.
  • Run a QualNet experiment on the selected QualNet configuration file and display the results.

To access the QualNet Configuration File Importer, click from the QualNet Interface toolbar or select Utilities menu->QualNet Interface->Configuration File Importer.

Map Wireless Interfaces to STK Antennas

To map wireless interfaces to STK antennas:

  1. Click to add a QualNet configuration file to the import list. Use the and buttons to add and delete QualNet Configuration files from the import list. To display the files associated with a QualNet configuration, right-click the configuration file name and select Open Containing Folder.
  2. The status button for each configuration file indicates one of the following states:
  3. indicates that the QualNet configuration file is up-to-date and all interfaces are mapped to STK antenna objects.

indicates that the QualNet configuration file has been modified since it was last loaded into the QualNet Interface and/or all interfaces are not mapped to STK antenna objects. To reload the QualNet configuration file, click . To map interfaces to STK antennas, go to Step 3.

indicates that the QualNet configuration file has been deleted.

  4. Select the configuration file from the import list to display its available wireless interfaces and STK antennas. You have the following viewing options:
    • To expand or collapse the Available Wireless Interfaces tree, right-click it. An expanded tree displays all the wireless interfaces. A red X indicates that the interface is not mapped to an STK antenna. A green check indicates that the interface is mapped.
    • To expand only hosts with unmapped interfaces, select Unmapped Interfaces->Expand from the right-click menu.
    • To highlight all unmapped nodes, select Unmapped Interfaces->Highlight from the right-click menu.
    • To expand or collapse the Available Antenna Objects tree, right-click it. An expanded tree displays all the antennas.
  5. To map an interface to an STK antenna, drag the interface to the antenna. The Mapped Interfaces table will be updated with the new mapping. Once all interfaces are mapped to STK antennas, the status of the QualNet Configuration file changes to .
  6. You can use the Remove and Remove All buttons to delete one or all mapped interfaces.
