Sensor Properties

EOIR Optical Properties

Input mode. The Optical Properties Input mode enables you to specify which two optical parameters are inputs and will calculate the third. The input options are: F-# and Entrance pupil diameter, F-# and Focal length, and Focal length and Entrance pupil diameter.

Auto Rebalance Parameters. If enabled, EOIR will re-balance the parameters to stay within the valid parameter limits. If disabled, EOIR will warn you when the settings would cause a calculation that is outside the valid parameter range.

F/#. The f-number of the optical prescription (Effective Focal Length/Effective Pupil Diameter).

Effective Focal Length. Focal length of the "single lens equivalent" optical prescription

Entrance Pupil Diameter. Diameter of the "single lens equivalent" optical prescription.

Image Quality

Input mode. The Image Quality Input mode enables you to specify one of four pre-set levels of image quality, custom wavefront error, OTF/MTF file, or PSF file. Pre-set levels of aberrations are modeled based on a root-mean-square wavefront error: Diffraction limited = 0.0, Negligible = 0.07, Mild = 0.14, Moderate = 0.21.

RMS wavefront error. A custom value for the RMS wavefront error.

Data file. A CSV-formatted data file containing MTF/OTF or PSF.

Data file sampling. The spatial or frequency sampling of the data file.

Longitudinal Defocus. Blurs the image by displacing the point of perfect focus off of the pixels by this linear distance.

Optical Transmission

Optical transmission mode. The method of specifying the optical transmission value. The two options are: Band effective value and Spectral transmission function.

Band Effective value. Spectrally flat transmission ratio.

Spectral transmission file. SRF-formatted file that specifies the spectral profile of the transmission ratio.

Diffraction Reference Wavelength

Diffraction Wavelength. The reference wavelength in the sensor's spectral band to use for diffraction modeling calculations.
