STK Licensing - Overview
AGI requires you to obtain a license file to run STK. STK license files are text files ending in the .lic extension. License files are required to run the free version of STK, as well as, purchased modules.

License Types
STK products can be licensed to any of the following license types:
- Nodelocked
- A license tied to one specific machine based on that machine’s Host ID (a.k.a. Physical or MAC Address). Nodelocked licenses will run only on the machine for which they were generated.
- Named User
- A license tied to one specific user’s login name. This single individual may login to, and provide his/her unique login names for, up to three (3) individual workstations, on up to three (3) different networks (i.e., Classified, unclassified, etc.).
- Network
- Floating licenses that can be used by any machine that has access to a particular network server. STK network licenses are issued as a set of two (2) license files, including: a server license that will reside on the network server itself and that unlocks the actual STK products and license seat quantities, and a client license that will be installed onto each workstation that will then access that server to pull the STK licenses.
- STK network licenses can be requested for the following configurations:
- Single Server
- Primary/Failover (2-server license failover protection - user intervention required)
- Redundant Server Triad (3-server license failover protection - seamless)
- Dongle
- A license tied to the unique identifier (called a “FlexID”) of a small, portable USB or Serial hardware device. The dongle license can be installed onto any number of user machines, but only the machine that also has the physical dongle connected can successfully launch the STK software at any given time.
- Network-Dongle
- A license similar to the dongle license type above; the difference being that the dongle license can be installed onto any number of network server machines, but only the server that also has the physical dongle connected can serve the STK license files out to users.
