Frequency Auto Track and Bandwidth Auto Scale
The Frequency Auto Track option allows a receiver to track and lock onto the transmitter's carrier frequency with which it is currently linking, including any Doppler shift.
The Bandwidth Auto Scale option is available for the noise equivalent bandwidth of the receiver. This feature allows the receiver to adjust its bandwidth to that of the current transmitter, as you switch from one transmitter to another.
- The Auto Scale option is also available for modeling transmitter bandwidth.
- If the Use Spectral Filter option on the receiver's Basic Definition properties page is selected, the receiver bandwidth options become disabled and the receiver's bandwidth is defined by the filter's bandwidth.
- When not using the frequency auto-track option, the receiver bandwidth and the transmitted bandwidth may not line up due to the difference in carrier frequencies. Similarly, when not using the bandwidth autoscaling option, the receiver bandwidth and transmitted bandwidth may not be the same size. These power losses are modeled in STK Communications and are included in the link performance reports as the receiver-to-transmitter Bandwidth Overlap Factor. This is a value from 0 to 1 representing the fraction of the transmitted power received by the receiver due to any mismatches between the carriers and bandwidths.
