Run the Experiment and View Results

To apply all network settings and compute network-level statistics on your STK scenario:

  1. Set your experiment runtime preferences by going to the STK Edit Menu->Preferences...->Scalable Network Modeling Interface page. You can also elect to save the STK scenario to the Scalable Network Modeling Interface Experiment folder at runtime.
  2. To save the Scalable Network Modeling Interface experiment files without running the experiment, click the down arrow on and select Export Experiment.

  3. Click . The simulation starts and the Run Control widow displays. The Simulation time and Progress bar enable you to check the progress of the run. You can interact with the run in any of the following ways:
    • Pause and then continue the simulation run.
    • Stop the simulation run.
    • Restart a simulation run that was stopped.

The Scalable Network Modeling Interface animation is dependant on your Animation and Event Type selections (Packet Received animation, Unicast animation, and Dropped Packet animation) from the Scalable Network Modeling Interface Settings preferences page.

The following Scalable Network Modeling Interface Experiment files are saved to the folder specified on the Scalable Network Modeling Interface preferences page:

    • Scenario configuration file (*.config), which is the primary input file for the Scalable Network Modeling Interface application and specifies the network scenario and parameters for the simulation.
    • Qimap file (*.qimap), which contains the mapping between STK objects and the Scalable Network Modeling Interface nodes and is required by both STK and the Scalable Network Modeling Interface application.
    • Application configuration file (*.app), which specifies the applications running on the nodes in the scenario and is referenced by the scenario configuration file.
  4. When the simulation is completed, the Statistics file (*.stat) is loaded into the Stat File viewer. The Statistics file is the primary output file generated by a Scalable Network Modeling Interface simulation run. The Statistics file shows desired statistics, including Throughput, Broadcasts Sent and Received, Packets Queued, Packets dropped, Route Timeouts, and Packet Times. Graphs are shown by node ID(interface ID). For example, 2(0).
  5. If the Stat File viewer is not automatically displayed, you can enable it on the Scalable Network Modeling Interface Settings preferences page.

  6. Click on any parameter in the Stat File viewer to display its statistics from the simulation run.
  7. To display the output log, click . The output log displays the status of the simulation run and any runtime errors.

Display Results from a Previous Scalable Network Modeling Interface Run

To display a file generated from a previous run of the Scalable Network Modeling Interface, click and select the desired stat file.
