Generating a Sensor Scene

To generate an input scene for the selected sensor, click on the EOIR toolbar. The EOIR Line of Sight and Field of View are synchronized to the STK Sensor object.

The input scene represents the analog world by digitally sampling the "modeled universe" at four times the sensor's pixel's spatial frequency, 16 spatial samples per sensor pixel, and over the passband and at wavelengths defined by the sensor model. The input scene is thus a "box" of floating point numbers of dimension (Horizontal spatial resolution x Vertical spatial resolution x Spectral resolution).

Sensor scene outputs

There are two sensor scene images generated: an internal image passed to the Sensor Model and a displayed image (or sensor scene). The displayed image is different from the internal image in the following ways:

  • The dynamic range is compressed to fit the display’s RGB capabilities.
  • It has Automatic Gain Control and Brightness/Contrast settings.
  • It has pixel value mapping for false color display.

You can also save the image as a bitmap file (.bmp).

Adjusting and interrogating the simulated scene

When you right-click the sensor scene, you can select from the following options:

Option Description
Details... Select this option to open the EOIR Scene Visual Details dialog box, which enables you to display, adjust, and save to a file the visual details for the selected scene. For specifics on the dialog box, see the EOIR Scene Visual Details topic.
Save Raw Sensor Data Select this option to save a copy of the current raw sensor data to a TXT file.
Save Dialog Bitmap Select this option to save a copy of the scene's bitmap data to a BMP file.
Show Zoom Slider Select this to have the sensor scene display a slider at the top of the scene. Move the slider to the left to zoom out and to the right to zoom in.
