Entities
Entities are the individual real-time tracks distributed by a provider, and then filtered by one or more queries. Entities are defined in STK as tracks within an MTO object . RT3 automatically creates two MTO objects - named Broker_Dynamic_Tracks and Broker_Static_Tracks - as soon as you have defined a query that is producing tracks in the scenario. The ability to analyze or assign child objects to an entity is limited to its status as a track of an MTO object.
Promoting Entities with the Get Info Tool
To analyze entities with greater depth, RT3 provides the ability to promote an entity from an MTO track to a full STK object from within the Get Info Tool. Promoting entities allows you to perform a wider variety of individual analysis on them and to model them with child objects such as sensors.
Promoting
To promote an entity to an object, right-click it and select Promote from the menu that appears; in the sub-menu that expands to the right, select the object type that you want the entity to become. The entity will remain listed as an entity within the Get Info Tool and RT3, but the MTO track representing it will be replaced with an object of the type that you selected.
The object will be inserted into the scenario's object browser with the entity's ID value as the object name, and will automatically be set to use the Real-Time propagator . As an STK object, the entity has all of the normal properties for an object of its type, and can be assigned child objects and analyzed like a normal object of that type. However, analysis of the promoted entity will be limited to what is normally possible with the Real-Time propagator.
Demoting
To demote an object and restore it to being an MTO track, right-click it in the Get Info Tool and select Demote from the menu that appears. A promoted object cannot have any child objects assigned to it to be eligible for demotion.
Other Actions with the Get Info Tool
In addition to promoting and demoting entities, you can use the Get Info Tool to zoom the view of the 3D Graphics window using the Zoom To command from the right-click menu.
