Camera Control - Adding Keyframes to a Camera Path

To add keyframes to a camera path:

  1. Select a 3D Graphics window.
  2. Select a camera path by making it the Active Camera Path on the 3D Window Properties page.
  3. Adjust the active 3D Graphics window to the desired view at the current animation time.
  4. Use the button to add the keyframe. Repeat this step to add another keyframe. The button performs the same function as the Add button on the Keyframes window.
  5. View the camera path. (You may need to zoom out to see it.) Each keyframe consists of a keyframe point and two control points.
  6. Select one or more edit modes to modify the keyframes in the camera path:
  7.

Free Edit mode. Enables free edit mode. This mode enables you to:
    • Move any keyframe or control point by clicking it and then dragging it to the desired location.

    •
    • Produce a sharper or softer curve by increasing or decreasing the tension of the curve at a particular keyframe. To change the tension at a keyframe, click an adjacent control point while holding the Shift key and drag it towards the keyframe to make the curve sharper or drag it away from the keyframe to make the curve softer.
Fixed Edit mode. View is centered and fixed to the selected keyframe or control point. In this edit mode, you can move the selected keyframe or control point only. The selected point is treated as the To Object of the current 3D Window. Clicking and dragging the mouse rotates around the point. To move the point, click and drag while holding the Shift key. This edit mode is useful when the keyframe or control point of interest is obscured by other objects in the scene, or when careful manipulation of the position of the point is needed. This button is enabled only when a keyframe or control point is selected.
No icon Orientation Vector Edit mode. Enables editing of the orientation vectors of any keyframe displayed in the 3D window. By clicking a particular vector and dragging the mouse left or right, you can modify the orientation of the keyframe. Orientation vector rendering must be enabled on the Render Properties page to display the orientation vectors in the 3D window. Go to the Camera Control 3D Window Properties page to enable this mode.
  8. Modify the camera path by moving a keyframe to a new location, dragging a control point to alter the shape of the camera path, or dragging an orientation vector to modify the orientation of the camera at a keyframe.
  9. Modify the tension at a keyframe to produce a sharper or softer curve. To change the tension of the camera path at a particular keyframe, click a control point adjacent to the keyframe while holding the Shift key and drag it towards the keyframe to make the curve sharper or drag it away from the keyframe to make the curve softer. You can only modify the tension if free edit mode is enabled.

The Camera Control tool requires that the Selection option on the 3D Graphics Annotation property page be Enabled.
