Taking a Snapshot of a 3D Graphics Window

You can make high resolution images of the 3D graphics window which can be used for PowerPoint presentations, brochures, or posters.

Use a high resolution image for a poster or brochure. Use a small image for Word, PowerPoint, or a website.

To create a snapshot:

  1. Set up the shot visually.
  2. Make sure that the 3D window that you want to snap is the active window and that no other windows overlap the window.
  3. Save the scene as a stored view so it can be recreated later, if needed.
  4. Select the 3D Graphics window and click on the STK Tools toolbar to access the Snap Tool.
  5. Set up the Snap Tool with the information needed for STK to process the shot.
  6. Click on the STK Tools toolbar to execute the Snap Tool
  7. Specify the directory in which the file will reside and the name of the file.
  8. View the snapshot using MSPaint or any other graphical tool that is compatible with the file format used when creating the snapshot.
  9. Make any adjustments to the stored view and retake the snapshot using the Snap tool. If points, lines, and text are not displaying properly, do one or more of the following:
  • Increase the star size on the Celestial Properties page.
  • Increase line thickness on the 2D Graphics Property page.
  • Disable text labels.
  • Set Anti-aliasing.
