Setting Task Attributes

The Task Definition Form contains all of the controls necessary to define a task.

To display the task definition form, select Task -> Task Editor from the Menu Bar.

The Task Definition Form is divided into 7 tabs:

• General
• STK
• Scheduling
• Duration
• Resources
• Dependency
• Notes
• Status

Search String

Typing the first view letters of a Task name will scroll the Task List to the first Task that starts with those letters.

Task List

The Task List contains a list of all the stored Tasks in the schedule. Selecting a Task will load it's attributes for editing. The new attributes will only be saved when the Update button is clicked.

Task Name Textbox

The task name is a user-defined identifier for the task. STK Scheduler will use the task's name as its identifier in all necessary interfaces. Each task in a scenario must have a unique name. For the task name, use only letters A through z, numbers 0 through 9, parenthesis (), brackets [], underscores _ , dashes - , and spaces.

Task Description Textbox (Optional)

The task description is a space where you can include additional text to aid in the description of a task. STK Scheduler does not require this textbox to be completed to function.

Task Type Icon

The task type icon is displayed next to the Task Description Textbox. It provides you with a quick reminder of the type of the task that the Task Definition Form currently defines. The icons used for the different task types are defined on the Legend form.

Create New Task Button

Creates a new Task in memory. The Task will not be saved until the Update button is clicked.

Delete Button

Clicking Delete deletes a Task permanently. Deleting a parent Task will delete all of its children. A Task cannot be deleted if it is Assigned.

Cancel Button

Clicking Cancel closes the Task Definition form without saving the attributes of the task.

Update Button

Clicking Update accepts any changes to the task being edited or saves a new task.

If Auto Validation is ON, as specified on the STK Scheduler Configuration Form, a Schedule Validation will be performed, and the schedule status will be updated accordingly.
