Simple Turn

The Simple Turn strategy is a horizontal plane strategy in which the aircraft performs a level turn using the properties specified in the current Acceleration performance model.

Field Description
Reference Frame

Select Earth Frame to force the aircraft to ignore wind effects and perform the maneuver with strict respect to a fixed Earth frame. This results in changing acceleration or bank angle over the turn for constant airspeeds.

Select Wind Frame to allow the maneuver to be perturbed by wind effects without attempting to overcome them. This results in holding the turn bank angle and body frame accelerations while headwinds and crosswind components change.

Relative Turn Angle The angle that will define the length of the turn arc, measured from the start bearing.
Turn Radius Factor The Turn Radius Factor is the maximum amount - expressed as a multiplier - that the turn radius will be increased to minimize the bank angle required to complete the turn. The full circles that correspond (or are tangent) to the start / stop turns at the extended radius may not intersect if the Turn Factor is set high enough. This parameter is a limit and may not actually be achieved due to the requirement to generate an appropriate turn sequence. You can adjust the slider or enter the value manually in the box, with the minimum value being 1 and the maximum value being 10.
