The Mission Window
The Mission window is used to define the aircraft's route when STK's Aviator capability has been selected as the propagator. The Route properties page for the aircraft object transforms into the Mission window, although it remains labeled as the Route page in the properties browser. This window allows you to define the Mission that the aircraft will perform. A Mission encompasses the entire route traveled and all actions performed by the aircraft within a scenario.
If Aviator appears dimmed in the propagator drop-down menu, you may not have a license for Aviator, or it might not be properly installed. Please refer to the licensing Help topic for more information.
The Mission window is comprised of three main areas - the mission toolbars, the mission list, and the mission profile. Each of these areas is described in this topic.
Mission Toolbars
The Mission window contains three toolbars:
- Initial Aircraft Setup
- Phases of Flight
- Procedures and Sites
These toolbars enable you to define the aircraft that you are modeling and to create, modify, and delete phases and procedures. Depending on the mission element - phase or procedure - that is highlighted in the mission list, the relevant toolbar will be active and the irrelevant toolbar will be grayed out. The Update Mission button recalculates the mission and refreshes the Mission Profile. An additional button - Edit in 3D - allows you to switch to the 3D graphics window to use 3D mission editing.
Initial Aircraft Setup
The buttons on the Initial Aircraft Setup toolbar are used to define the aircraft model that will be used in the mission. For complete details of how aircraft models are defined, refer to the Initial Aircraft Setup section of the Aviator Help.

Mission List
The mission list provides an overview of the mission by listing each of the mission phases and the procedures within them, in the order in which they will be executed. Phases are simply noted by their names, while procedures are noted by their site, procedure, and time. You can expand or collapse the display of the list of procedures within a phase by clicking + or - on a phase in the list. You can drag and drop individual procedures or entire phases. In addition, procedure collection files can be dragged and dropped from Windows Explorer into the mission list.
An invalid procedure in the mission list is displayed in red text. If a procedure's time field is displayed with an icon, then the procedure does not begin at the scenario epoch; the procedure is still valid.
Mission Commands
The mission list provides two extensive right-click menus of commands, one for phases and one for procedures. These menus are defined in the following tables:

Mission Profile
The Mission Profile can display a variety of data describing the mission. The default profile displays the aircraft's altitude relative to its downrange distance, but the graph can be customized to display any Flight Profile data provider with respect to time or downrange distance. The segment of the profile that represents the procedure that is currently selected in the Mission List is displayed as a bold line.
A right-click menu - available from anywhere within the profile - contains the commands described in the following table.
Table - Profile Commands
Unless otherwise noted, these commands function with respect to the data providers and sample size specified in the Profile Options/Properties window.

Profile Data at Cursor... |
Opens the Profile Data window for the selected point. |
Threshold Tool... |
Opens the Threshold Tool window.
|
Save Flight Test Data... |

Profile Data
The Profile Data window displays mission data at the point in the mission profile at which it is invoked from the right-click command menu. The window displays all of the Flight Profile data providers, but can be sorted or filtered using the drop-down menu at the top of the window. You can view the profile data from any valid time in the mission by editing the Time field. A purple triangle is displayed in the profile to mark the point that you are viewing.
The window has a small toolbar with one menu, Actions, which provides you with several commands that can be performed on the displayed data.
Table - Actions Menu

Threshold Tool
You can use the Threshold Tool to identify when a certain value is achieved by the data on either the primary or secondary Y axis. Select which of the axes currently displayed in the profile that you want to evaluate, and then enter the target value in the Find Value field. Click Minimum or Maximum to enter the minimum or maximum value along the axis in the Find Value field. Enter a Tolerance if the value that you are searching for isn't an exact value.
You can use the Find First, Find Next, Find Prev, and Find Last buttons to navigate the search with respect to the X axis; the Found Time and Found Downrange fields display the location along the X axis where the current result is located. Threshold results are marked in the profile with an orange triangle.
Click Data... to open the Profile Data window for the currently displayed result. Click Interrupt to perform a procedure interrupt at the currently displayed result.
