The Sensor Object

The Sensor object models the field of view and other properties of a sensing device attached to another STK object. Select one or more of the following to model a Sensor and impose constraints:

Basic Properties

Property Description
Definition Set parameters defining a sensor's field of view.
Location Position a sensor with respect to its parent object.
Pointing Set parameters to determine how a sensor is aimed, e.g., with respect to its parent object, the central body, objects selected for tracking, etc.
Sensor AzEl Mask Define an azimuth-elevation mask for the sensor.
Refraction Select a refraction model to constrain an atmosphere-based sensor's line of sight and elevation angles.
Resolution Define the resolution of the sensor in terms of focus and image quality.
Description Record useful information about the sensor.

2D Graphics Properties

Property Description
Attributes Define color, line style and other graphics characteristics for the sensor, and opt whether to inherit or override global attributes defined at the Scenario level.
Projection Control the display of sensor projection graphics.
Boresight Control the display of sensor boresight graphics.
Display Times Set time intervals during which sensor graphics display.

3D Graphics Properties

Property Description
Attributes Control the display of a sensor in the 3D graphics window.
Projection Control the display of a sensor's cone into space as well as the sensor's extension into space.
Pulse Modulate a sensor's projection.
Vertex Offset Enable the projection for a sensor to be offset from the sensor parent object's actual position in the parent's body coordinate frame.
Vector Control the display of vectors and other geometric elements related to the sensor.
Attitude Sphere The Attitude Sphere is a visualization aid that when combined with vector display constitutes a powerful tool for displaying the object's attitude and for tracking attitude changes over time.
Data Display Display dynamic data for the sensor in the 3D Graphics window.

Constraints Properties

Property Description
Active

Impose constraints on access from the following available constraint categories for a Sensor object:

  • Basic: The most commonly used constraints
  • Angle: Constraints that involve an angular measure
  • Geometry: Constraints that use a geometric measure (other than angle), such as range, altitude, and grazing altitude
  • Analysis Workbench (AWB): Constraints that involve an Analysis Workbench (AWB) component (Angle, Calculation Scalar, Condition, or Vector)
  • Central Body: Constraints involving the location of the Sun, planets, and moons
  • EOIR: Constraints pertaining to an electro-optical and infrared receptor (EOIR) sensor
  • Multifunction Radar: Constraints pertaining to a multifunction radar
  • Multifunction Radar Jamming: Constraints pertaining to a multifunction radar in the presence of jamming transmissions
  • Plugins: Your own plugin constraints, which compute a plugin-defined metric that you define
  • Radar SAR: Constraints pertaining to a SAR radar
  • Radar SAR Jamming: Constraints pertaining to a SAR radar in the presence of jamming transmissions
  • Radar SearchTrack: Constraints pertaining to a search/track radar
  • Radar SearchTrack Jamming: Constraints pertaining to a search/track radar in the presence of jamming transmissions
  • Temporal: Constraints related to specified time-of-day or time intervals
Settings Select access constraint conditions that apply generally to access computations involving a Sensor object.
